NOVEMBER 21, 2015
The Black Hills Film Festival presents a premiere event on November 21st hosted by the Journey Museum in Rapid City, SD. FLICKS & FLIGHTS will showcase two fun wine films, eight exceptional wines – including four from Chateau Montelena and four from the Anna Pesӓ series by Sandi Vojta – paired with hors d’oeuvres, and a wine making exhibit. Doors open at 3:00 PM and the last film ends at 8:45 PM. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED $60.00 plus tax. Must be 21 for tastings.
Begin your experience with a glass of Riesling paired with a light hors d’oeuvre and enjoy the movie Bottle Shock starring Chris Pine, Alan Rickman, and Bill Pullman. It tells the story of the early days of California wine making featuring the now infamous, blind Paris wine tasting of 1976 that has come to be known as "Judgment of Paris."
At 5:30 PM sample seven other exceptional wines paired with hors d’oeuvres and explore a wine making exhibit. Discuss wine and food with host Eric Gardner and other wine industry specialists. There will be a raffle of many fine wines, gourmet food and film related items. In addition there will be a live auction of Chateau Montelena wines, as well as a signed copy of the film by Bo Barrett and signed hard copy book “Judgement of Paris.”
Finally, at 7:15 PM relax and enjoy the comedy film Corked. This is a hilarious tale told by documentary filmmakers of four distinctly different wineries and their intertwined fate in Northern California wine country. A prestigious celebrity wine critic is coming to the area and everyone is trying to make sure their wine ends up on his golden palate. We follow a diverse group of characters through the toils of harvest, and their quest for recognition leading to the Golden Harvest Gala.
