Teams please note: The head is the canvas and the models natural hair should be incorporated into the style. The models face must be visible to see the runway.Theme: Beyond Oz; Teams are to create your own Oz personality from any era, (futuristic, retro, traditional, one of your creation) and be any creature or character you desire. Be sure to dress your model to radiate the look you have chosen. This competition will be judged by the complete look from head to fingertips to toes.

 

Team supplies:

A.All equipment necessary to complete the look including a stool or chair for your model.

B.A cart (trolley) will be allowed, but not a necessity. A free standing mirror that can sit on the table is also allowed. You will work at a table.

C.All wardrobe, footwear, accessories, jewelry, make-up, and styling products. 

D.Bio of team members and a written description of their concept, and each member’s contributions to the overall design. Handed in prior to the start of the competition.

 

 

Competition Rules:

1.By paying the entry fee, you are agreeing to all the Rules and Regulations of the competition.

2.Teams may consist of 1 or 2 persons. Teams can enter only 1 model. The model can be a member of the team and must be 18 or older.

3.Team agrees to appear on site at the required CHECK-IN time or risk point deduction and/or possible disqualification for non adherence to the time requirements. The competition may be viewed by ticket holders and have extensive Run of Show obligations. There will be NO REFUNDS issued for disqualifications due to tardies or absences.

4.Hair and makeup must be completed for models in the time allotted. NO ADDITIONAL TIME WILL BE GIVEN IN PREP ROOM OR ON STAGE. Costume, nails and preparation of props (if applicable) should be done prior to check-in for competition.

5.Report to the competition area with your model’s hair rolled and/or molded and dried. Arrive withnattire already on. There is only 1.5 hours allowed for prep time.

6.All hairpieces, postiches, headdress and prosthetics can be totally completed. They are to be positioned and attached on the models head and/or body in the prep room during the prep time.

7.We will not have access to hooded hair dryers. Hand held blow dryers will be allowed during prep time. 1 Hot Tool May be plugged in at a time.

8.Make-up and clothes must compliment the hairstyle. Judging will include the total look from head to toe (fingernails included). Please be complete in every area.

9.Teams and models must remain until the judge's decisions are announced and awards are held on Main Stage.

10.Only the Teams, Models and contest coordinators are allowed around the prep tables during Prep time.

 

11.Judging will be done on a visual basis only. Your creation will not be disassembled.

12.The Team leader must sign and submit the official entry application agreeing with the Rules and Regulations and the required fee(s). Also Team and model must sign a liability waiver during check-in. In doing so, the Team agrees to abide by the decision of the judges.

13.The SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT to require a minimum number of competitors.

14.ALL TEAMS and Models ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELONGINGS!!! BHFF will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

(The fine print) By participating in this Contest, all entrants and models irrevocably and forever agree to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless Black Hills Film Festival, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim, liability, injury, damage, death, loss, expense, or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt, travel related to, inability to use, or use of any prize. Entry and/or acceptance of prize(s) constitutes permission for the Sponsor and their agencies to use the participating entrants’ and models’ name, address (city and state) and/or likeness for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation or authorization, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, including without limitation Internet, unless prohibited by law. Releases will be signed by members and models.
